This album brings together my two music passions of fingerstyle guitar and orchestral arrangements. It is also a nod to over 400 years history between the county of Devon in the UK (where I have lived most of my life), the USA and Canada. From Sir Francis Drake staking a claim on California in 1579 for Elizabeth I, to the voyage of The Mayflower by Pilgrims in 1620; Sir Humphrey Gilbert claiming Newfoundland as Britain’s first overseas colony, to John Graves Simcoe founding Toronto and abolishing slavery; and in the past century Devon’s beautiful Dartmoor and Slapton Sands connection with US forces, Devon has probably the most notable historic links with America & Canada than any other county in the UK. British explorers, adventurers and pioneers from Devon made history and to whom this album is dedicated.
